Rebecca Makonnen

TV and radio host

In 1999, Rebecca Makonnen joined the ranks of MusiquePlus as star journalist and host. Traveling around the world, she met with the biggest names in the international music scene, including Radiohead, Bono, Gwen Stefani and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. She then walked the red carpets for Flash on TQS and covered culture for Radio-Canada’s On fait tous du show business and C’est bien mieux le matin. From 2009 to 2011, she hosted Canada Day in both official languages ​​live from Parliament Hill in Ottawa for Radio-Canada and CBC.

A renown music lover, she hosted Studio 12 for four years, a unique creative space where many talents meet, in front of an audience at Radio-Canada’s legendary Studio 12 and broadcast on all its platforms (radio, television and website). She co-chairs, with Bernard Derome, the 75th anniversary festivities of Radio-Canada. From 2012 to 2016, she hosted Circuit Makonnen, a daily radio show for ICI Musique; then ICI Première gave her freedom and trust to host On dira ce qu’on voudra, broadcast from Monday to Thursday evening on state radio from 2016 to 2022. She also co-hosted Le Beau Dimanche with Jean-Philippe Wauthier, and was at the helm of Esprit Critique for six years at ICI ARTV with journalist Marc Cassivi.

Creator and host of the podcast Pas fait en chocolat, Rebecca is back on the airwaves of ICI Première with De l’huile sur le feuand hosts Les Ambassadrices on Radio-Canada. She also hosts Canada Day 2023 in French and English, in Ottawa, a live show broadcast from coast to coast.
