Women in Governance is proud to present a fireside chat with Liz Plank, award-winning journalist, CEO of Liz Plank Productions, host of several critically acclaimed digital series and author of For the Love of Men: From Toxic to a More Mindful Masculinity and Michael Kaufman, Ph.D., world-renowned advisor, activist, Co-Founder of the White Ribbon Campaign and author of The Time Has Come: Why Men Must Join the Gender Equality Revolution. Caroline Codsi, Founder and Chief Equality Officer of Women in Governance will lead the discussion.
During this wide-ranging conversation, they will discuss the essential role of men in achieving gender equality. Rafael Moya, Program Manager, Parity Certification at Women in Governance will moderate the public Q&A session.

About our guests
An award-winning journalist and author, Liz Plank has been listed as one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30, Mediaite’s Most Influential in News Media, Marie Claire’s Most Powerful Women, and was named one of the World’s Most Influential People in Gender Policy by Apolitical. She is also the executive producer and host of several critically acclaimed digital series at Vox Media and NBC News, a columnist for MSNBC, and the CEO of Liz Plank Productions. She’s built a loyal following on numerous social media platforms, but her proudest accomplishment by far remains being blocked by the 45th president of the United States. Her first book is entitled For the Love of Men: From Toxic to a More Mindful Masculinity.
Michael Kaufman, over the past four decades, has been an advisor, activist and writer engaging men to support women’s rights, end violence against women, and positively transform the lives of men. He co-founded the White Ribbon Campaign in 1991, the largest network of men working to ending violence against women worldwide, and worked in fifty countries with the United Nations, governments, corporations, and women’s organizations. The international organization of civil servants, Apolitical, named him to its Gender Equality Top 100—The Most Influential People in Global Policy. He has served Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau and French President Macron on their respective G7 Gender Equality Advisory Councils. One of his most recent books is entitled The Time Has Come: Why Men Must Join the Gender Equality Revolution.
Caroline Codsi is the Founder & Chief Equality Officer of Women in Governance, Canada’s preeminent non-profit created in 2010 with mission to help women access decision-making bodies and male dominated fields through advocacy, major events, mentoring programs and governance training. In 2017, Women in Governance developed the first North American Parity Certification with the probono support of McKinsey&Company to close the gender gap in the workplace in corporate Canada and America. Accenture, Mercer and Willis Towers Watson support WiG’s team in the evaluation process and reporting that concretely impacted positively more than 400,00 employees. Adding an intersectionality lens recognizes added obstacles for women from under-represented groups. The organization is also well known for the important role men are given as allies of the cause.
A Citizen of the world having lived on three continents, Caroline was born in Beirut and grew up through the civil war. A highly sought-after speaker, Caroline has addressed audiences across the globe, including two TEDx. Widely quoted in national and international media, she is the recipient of numerous awards from prestigious organizations such as the United Nations’ Women’s Committee, the Quebec Business Women Network, The Federation of Chambers of Commerce or the New Delhi Women’s Economic Forum, to name a few. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau nominated Caroline on Canada’s National Gender Equality Committee and Mayor Valérie Plante on the City of Montreal’s Business Committee. She was also recognized as a Top 20 Diversity Leading Figure in Quebec, Top 75 Canadian Immigrant, Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada and Top 100 Entrepreneurs changing the world.
Rafael Moya is Program Manager of the Parity Certification at Women in Governance (WiG), prior to which he has held Management and Advisor positions at institutional, civil society, and non-governmental organizations such as UNHCR, the Spanish Delegation at the OCDE, Ashoka, and Common Action Forum. During his career, Rafael has both developed programs and conducted monitoring and evaluation analysis ensuring that an inclusive and sustainable lens is embedded within organizational practices, as well as through policy-making. He has also channelled his passion for inclusive frameworks by volunteering across various humanitarian crises around the globe, including the Lesbos refugee crisis and the South Sudanese civil war. At WiG, Rafael is responsible for the upkeep of the Parity Certification, ensuring that the assessment is aligned with the rapidly evolving norms in the discipline of diversity and inclusion.
